On Being Blind

Please, spare a thought as you pass by.
With spring in step and light in your m eye,
For those of us, who just like me,
Can't walk without cane. Can no longer see.
Can't tell when day becomes night,
And if the stars are shining bright.
Or when that silver orb up there
Is sailing through the cold night air.
The warming sun which gives us life
May help remove the bitter strife,
And yet its rays cannot restore
The vision lost for evermore.
Ask the question, I cannot say why,
But as you see now, so once did I
