If I Could Dance
By Len Curle

If I could dance
if I could dance
I would madly, proudly prance
up and down the stairs at the Town Hall
do a fantastic fox trot down Fowler Street
and a jaunty jitterbug in Ocean Road

If I could dance
and I could sing
then I would do the highland fling
all the way up King Street
play my guitar out of tune
and shower the gulls with discordant songs.

If I could dance
and I could sing
and I could fly
I would skip and scream across the sky
do barrel rolls along the Coast
loop the loop at Gypsies Green
and do figures of eight 'round Marsden Bay

and then perhaps
I'd fly away
