Sea Bored
By Vivienne Telfer

The waves they splash and dash and bash
And crash upon the shore
They flash and wash, refresh and thrash
It's all been said before

They creep and leap from the foaming deep
They slap and lap the sand
They're rippling and sparkling and dappling and darkling
Completely surrounding our land

And the sea, nothing new, it's Cruel, Deep and Blue
It's Black, Red or Dead, full of brine
It's tides ebb and flow, monotonously so,
Consistent, eternal as time

But no one was bored when the word spread abroad
Disbelief and alarm followed shock
The stormy grey ocean caused fatal erosion
When tradgedy struck Marsden Rock
